ÁLEX MÁRQUEZ OPTIMISTIC AFTER WET START TO PORTUGAL GP

Álex Márquez embraced the tough conditions on day one of the Grand Prix of Portugal as continuous rain made life difficult for the MotoGP class at Portimao. The LCR Honda CASTROL rider was unfortunate to finish Friday just outside the top 10, but still showed his potential on ‘the rollercoaster’ despite not getting the chance to ride it in dry conditions.

Having narrowly missed out on a podium finish last year, the Spaniard is a fan of the Portuguese venue and started impressively as he took tenth position in a wet FP1. With even more water to contend with in FP2, Álex performed well to claim 6th spot in the session, although was he edged out of tenth in the combined times by Honda colleague Pol Espargarò.
