ÁLEX MÁRQUEZ QUALIFIES AS TOP HONDA AT SILVERSTONE

Álex Márquez emerged as the top Honda rider in qualifying for the British Grand Prix, although he will start the sixth row of the grid at Silverstone. The LCR Honda CASTROL man showed flashes of his potential at the Northamptonshire venue, but will hope for another of his trademark Sunday comebacks in tomorrow’s MotoGP showpiece.

The Spaniard was impressive in Saturday morning’s FP3 session, but could not quite crack the top 10 as he ended in 15th spot, four tenths from automatic progress to Q2. His race pace looked solid as he finished just behind LCR team-mate Taka Nakagami in FP4 (15th), but a fall undermined his hopes in Q1 and he had to settle for 17th overall.
